History

Avow Hospice, Inc. was founded as Hospice of Naples in 1983 by a small group of community visionaries, led by Naples resident Glenna Hayhoe. We began with four paid staff members and 54 volunteers. Since then, our agency has grown rapidly, building and opening its administrative offices in 1991, admitting its first patient to the Frances Georgeson Hospice House inpatient facility in 2003 and opening offices throughout the county in 2004 and 2005. Programs and staff have also increased. In 2007 we changed our name to Avow Hospice, Inc. as a reflection of our commitment to helping our patients fulfill life's promises. Today we employ more than 175 professionals who are dedicated to the care of the terminally ill and their families.
