Our promise to our patients is this: wherever their path takes them in their journey through the final days of life, we will be there every step of the way.

Pledge to our Patients
Brother, Sister, Fellow Traveler on the Journey of Life: When you are facing your final days:

We promise to hold your hand
Sit by your bedside
Relieve your pain
Find you shelter
Listen to your loneliness
Dry your tears
Mourn your life's losses
Rejoice in your accomplishments
Soothe you with music and touch
Keep you warm and safe
Embrace your family
Respect your beliefs
Honor your traditions
Value your need to be seen, to be heard,
to be listened to.

Honored Patient, we promise to
tell you the truth
To see a mother or a
father in your face
To comfort you like our own child
To face your death with you
As you let go of our hand to walk safely, peacefully, and surrounded with love
Into the limitless universe of your soul.

Tribute to the Hospice Staff

by Clara B. Lore, Hospice of Naples patient

Hospice staff is so professional.
All their tasks they do so well.
That they care about their patients
Is something you with ease can tell.

There's no hurry in their actions.
It matters not how long it takes.
They'll find out how they can help you,
Do it for the patients' sake.

It's so good to have them visit.
(Matters not how many pills.)
You know their best is what they're giving
To relieve large or small ills.

May God maintain their stamina,
Keep them on-going with their work,
For they are the kind of people
Who their duty will not shirk.

Praise God sincerely for Naples Hospice!
He will help maintain its flow.
We'll state our gratitude for being
One whom Hospice came to know.

My Heart Is with Hospice

(Through the eyes of a Hospice patient)

My heart is with Hospice,
Each and every day.
Nothing can stop me
From feeling this way.

Because all of the nurses
Are dedicated and kind.
Glenna Hayhoe, the founder,
Had quite the clever mind.

There's the inpatient option
And also the Field Team,
They both make me grin -
Not just grin, but beam.

They're oh so accommodating -
Whatever I need,
They perform angelic acts,
Not just a good deed.

When life's journey ends,
And I must part
I know that Hospice has always
Been in my heart.

Gigi Baseman, age 12
Hospice of Naples volunteer

Feel My Presence

In springtime, my memory shall fragrance the air,
As night jasmine blooms, I’ll visit you there.

When rain falls in summer, taps soft on your door,
Search deep in your soul and feel me once more.

And when you wish upon a star, on a cool autumn night,
I’ll wrap you with my love and warm you with moonlight.

I would never leave you not even in winter, bleak and gray,
For in your heart, I am a part where you can visit me each day.

-- Shirley Carlotti, Hospice of Naples patient

You Shall Always Be

Tonight I shall envision among the stars that shine so bright,
Your gentle eyes so giving, sending love 'til morning light.

At daybreak when my feet touch down on grass of morning dew,
I'll cherish a heartfelt moment as I shed a tear or two.

Then when the sun arises, your warmth will fill my soul,
Your energy, your strength will keep me ever whole.

When evening dusk befalls me and silence calms my heart,
I'll celebrate our friendship where you play an awesome part.

In reflections of the moon's glow, I'll see your smiling face,
And with each expansive ray, I'll feel your sweet embrace.

And should I see a shooting star, fast and falling free,
I'll know that it's an omen that your eternal spirit is watching over me.

-- Shirley Carlotti, Hospice of Naples patient

Rugged Old Body

This rugged old body
Tattered and worn
Is only a dwelling place
Which my soul was born.

Its deep inner beauty
The spirit within
With peace and serenity
My soul shall live.

This rugged old body
Tattered and worn
Will someday be gone
Yet my soul will live on.

Swept up in the arms
Of the angels' wings
My spirit, my soul
Now rest in God's peace.
