Avow Hospice cares for both those who are ill and those who love and support them.
We promise to treat you and your family with dignity and respect.

What is Hospice?
Hospice is an approach to caring for people who are living with a terminal illness. It is treatment for all dimensions of a person's being -- physical, emotional, social and spiritual. Hospice care focuses on comfort, not cure. It is based on a deep respect for each person's right to make his or her own decisions about care.

Where is Hospice?
Hospice is not a building, like a hospital. When most people "enter a hospice program," they receive care in the comfort of their own home -- a house, apartment, mobile home or similar dwelling. "Home" can also be a nursing home, assisted living facility or extended care facility. Sometimes it is a jail cell, shelter or even the woods.

Some hospices, including Avow Hospice, have a place where patients can stay for a period of time until a situation regarding their care is resolved.

Why Avow Hospice is the Right Choice
When selecting a hospice provider, remember that at Avow Hospice:

  • Patients receive more focused, personal attention than at most hospices nationwide. Our nurses have fewer patients than at most hospices nationwide, so patients get more care and attention.
  • Our home health aides offer "tuck-in" service in the evenings for those patients who need a little extra assistance preparing for bed or performing personal care.
  • Our doctors and nurses have specialized training and certification in end of life comfort care.
  • Our staff of full-time hospice physicians visit patients at home and work with their primary care physicians to manage their care.
  • Our Frances Georgeson Hospice House offers private, peaceful accommodations for patients with needs that can't be managed at home.
  • Team offices are located throughout the county so our staff can get to patients quickly.
  • We know Collier County better than any other hospice organization - we founded hospice care here in 1983.
  • We listen to Community Advisory Boards in Naples, Immokalee and Marco Island for their input on our services. We formed these Boards specifically to learn how our community wants and needs us to serve them.
  • We are quality certified by the Joint Commission -- the Gold Seal of Approva™ in health care.
  • We vow to care for everyone who needs us, even if they have no ability to pay for our services.
